Pierre G. Dumaine's Obituary
Pierre Dumaine, formerly of Miami, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of
family, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
He is survived by his children, Andre Dumaine (Chrissy) and Heidi O'Sheehan (Edward); nine loving
grandchildren, Erika, Xander, Taylor, Morgan, Zachary, Zoe, Evan, Oona, and Isaac; three great-grandsons, Lucca, Aries, and Atlas; and his longtime partner, Beverly Shinn.
Pierre was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Marian Dumaine (née Fernebok); his
parents, Georges and Avdokia Dumaine (née Lawand); his brothers, Francois and Jean-Louis; and
his eldest son, George. His first wife, and the mother of his children, Gisela (née Galler).
Born in Aleppo, Syria, Pierre immigrated to Brooklyn, New York, with his family as a young child.
He was deeply grateful for the opportunities, rights, and freedoms of his adopted country and
passed that appreciation on to his family and friends throughout his life.
Pierre was a proud Eagle Scout and maintained lifelong friendships with his scouting community.
After spending much of his career in telecommunications, he discovered a passion for teaching
English as a Second Language. He taught for many years, earning the admiration and affection of
immigrant students from around the world.
Pierre also served for thirteen years in the Army National Guard, attaining the position of Platoon
Sergeant (E-6). Committed to serving others, he later volunteered with the American Red Cross as a
Disaster Shelter Manager, helping countless individuals and families during times of crisis.
Throughout his life, Pierre embodied a commitment to service, education, and helping others build
brighter futures.
A writer and lover of poetry, Pierre found particular meaning in these words:

in me, your laugh once lifted me, your word was gift to me. To remember this brings painful joy. 'Tis

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 7th at Beth David Memorial Gardens, 3201
North 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33024. Services by Levitt-Weinstein (305-932-2700). In lieu of
flowers, Pierre and his family request that donations in his memory be made to a charity of the
donor's choosing.
